Direction, Choreography + Performance: Gabrielle Martin + Jeremiah Hughes
"Dark, quietly riveting gem of aerial drama" - The List, UK
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:
Synopsis :
Limb(e)s is contemporary aerial-dance that explores the liminal space between holding onto or letting go of another. Former Cirque du Soleil artists Gabrielle Martin and Jeremiah Hughes deliver a “Dark, quietly riveting gem of aerial drama” (The List). Limb(e)s unfolds to the haunting original music of composer Nicolas Bernier in a rich visual world that earned it a Total Theatre Award nomination in Physical and Visual Theatre (2019). The result is a hypnotic, destabilizing narrative full of loss, yearning, and tragic beauty.
Originally presented live, this 40-minute work currently tours in digital format.
Company history & background :
Gabrielle Martin and Jeremiah Hughes are co-founders and choreographers of Ci. Both artists have a primary formation in dance with comprehensive training in aerial work and theatre. They started collaborating while performing as principal characters with Cirque du Soleil’s TORUK - The First Flight. Company Ci is what happens when two artists who have been performing circus as entertainment, give themselves a carte blanche to explore the shadow-side of our human experience. Invented aerial apparatuses and strong audio-visual elements are defining features of their world.
