Limb(e)s

Directed by Gabrielle Martin, Choreographed and Performed by Jeremiah Hughes and Gabrielle Martin

"Dark, quietly riveting gem of aerial drama" - The List, UK

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:

Synopsis :

Limb(e)s is visceral aerial dance set in the limbo beyond loss. Using two bodies and an invented apparatus of rope cradles, it explores our ephemeral bonds and what it means to hold onto or let go of one another in our “darkest hour”. Drawing from their experience in circus and dance, Jeremiah Hughes and Gabrielle Martin perform an emotionally raw physicality to the haunting original soundscape of Canadian composer Nicolas Bernier. The result is a hypnotic, destabilizing narrative full of mourning, distant hope, and eerie beauty.

Company history & background :

Gabrielle Martin and Jeremiah Hughes are co-artistic directors of Ci Co. Both artists have a primary formation in dance with complementary specialties in aerial work and physical theatre. They started collaborating while performing as principal characters with Cirque du Soleil’s TORUK - The First Flight. Ci Co is what happens when two artists who have been performing circus as entertainment, give themselves a carte blanche to explore the shadow-side of our human experience. Invented aerial apparatuses and strong audio-visual elements are defining features of their world.
